Samer is all nice and clean. Now it’s Sally’s turn, but Sally…
Explain to children they should reply: ‘…doesn’t want to.’
Use a coloring pencil to draw lines coming out of Sally’s mouth (like smelly breath).
Now they need to pack their bags. What do we need for the beach?

Children put items in their imaginary bag.
Right, let’s go!

Never mind. Let’s explore the beach.

Children lie down on the floor.
They scratch all over their body.
What does Sally need to do to get comfortable?
Take children’s suggestions for what Sally needs to do to get a good night’s sleep.
It’s Sally’s turn to do all of these things, and this time she…
Children reply: ‘wants to!’
Children do all the washing actions: shower, brushing teeth, getting into pajamas etc.
Reveal the ‘clean’ Sally drawing underneath the dirty drawing.
Hurray! Sally is all clean just like Samer and now she can sleep soundly.
Recap
Sit down in the circle and recap what happened.
Consolidate why it’s important to be clean, when we should wash, brush our teeth, etc.
Ask for their favorite part of the story.
Extend
Include other things that would make Sally dirtier, or she may have forgotten to do – turn these into movement activities.
Give each child a before and after picture of Sally and let them create their own dirty Sally and clean Sally.
